...cont'd from REFINED OILERS AVENGE JFK IN DALLAS

Greetings Orwell Today Readers,

Over the years I've sometimes been turned off watching hockey because I'm so disgusted with the blatant fleecing of the sheople perpetrated by the wolves of Wall Street types -- corporations and governments in bed together pushing booze, drugs, gambling, LGBTQ and now the Global Warming hoax. Nor do I like the NHL's affiliation with Communist China. See HUAWEI NIGHT IN CANADA HOCKEY & HOCKEY'S CHERRY SKATES THE SKATE

But it's no fun throwing a wet blanket on other people's enjoyment so in playoffs I allow myself to get carried away in the excitement -- like plebes in Rome watching gladiators at the Colliseum. I don't want to become like Orwell who a friend once said about, "He would not blow his nose without moralising on conditions in the handkerchief industry".

As I write this it's a day or two after the Oilers lost to the Florida Panthers which was nowhere near as exciting as the series against Dallas had been. From the moment of their making it to the Stanley Cup Final the Oilers brazenly took advantage of ecstatic fans by hiking up ticket prices to thousands of dollars. Then adding insult to injury the Oilers, without any explanation, dumped the playing of LA BAMBA as their victory song. The song they replaced it with -- which I'd never heard before, and neither had reporters up-to-date on all things Oilers -- was by a lesbian punk-rocker dancing with drag queens at a gay strip club.

Throughout the finals there'd been controversy about how badly the Oilers were playing and that now was the time for their superstars -- "the two best hockey players in the world" -- to show up but in the end they didn't.

The next day, in the aftermath of the loss, I was reading hockey-talk and something in the above photo jumped out at me. It showed Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl reacting to the winning goal by the Panthers ending Oilers' run for the Stanley Cup. I zoomed in on the X-shaped logo on their shirts that I'd been wondering about all through the games. It looked slightly different from the star-shaped logo they usually wear, the controversial origin of which is explained below:

Edmonton Oilers fans outraged about gambling company logo on front of team jerseys
"This is blasphemy of the highest order"

...The Edmonton Oilers are the latest NHL team to stick an advertisement on their jersey. Today, the Oilers revealed they'd be wearing Play Alberta's logo on their home blue sweaters beginning with the 2024-25 season. The announcement came just hours after the Washington Capitals struck a deal with TikTok for their road white sweaters. The logo shows Play Alberta's stylized star design with the company name below... Edmonton also announced they'd wear GameSense's logo on their home helmets. GameSense is the responsible gaming program run by Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC).

Play Alberta is a government-run iGaming company that uses income generated through the site to support the General Revenue Fund, which supports everyday programs and services in Alberta... In addition, the website has integrated AGLC's GameSense and Self-Exclusion programs to better support players in their gambling journey. This past year, PlayAlberta.ca generated $235 million in net sales, an increase of more than $42 million from 2022-23. That number contributes to the $1.5 billion in total gaming revenue that's sent to Alberta's General Revenue Fund...

Upon googling KARBON-X I was gobsmacked -- it blew my circuits. I couldn't believe the betrayal by the Oilers in joining an enemy in the villification of carbon dioxide -- CO2 -- the life-giving gas emitted from our oilsands.

I'd just recently been extolling the virtues of the Oilers for the symbolism of their logo -- oil, like the players, rising to the top from deep depths -- as in the SAGD method of mining our most essential energy resource.

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. The Karbon-X Web-App has arrived providing a platform for people to easily offset a portion of their carbon footprint.

And to think, this X symbol is what the obviously oblivious Oilers are being paid big bucks to wear on their shirts to sucker "the everyday person" into buying CO2 "credits" or "offsets" based on how much CO2 they or their "investments" have breathed or captured and how big is their carbon "footprint" -- or something like that -- but it's all gobbeldy gook.

OzoneGlobe

My recognition of global warming as a hoax has been my wheelhouse issue going way back to the mid-90s when the whole CFC chlorofluorocarbon "hole in the ozone layer" hysteria started happening -- and hairspray and freons in the fridge were suspect. The basic mantra was "chloro-fluoro-carbons (CFCs) and hydro-chloro-fluoro-carbons (HCFCs) are fully or partly halogenated hydro-carbons that contain carbon(C), hydrogen(H), chlorine(Cl) and fluorine(F) that are produced as volatile derivatives of methane, ethane, and propane". I used to sing a song in my head, "There's a hole in the ozone, dear Liza, dear Liza...". Then, over these past 30 years, CFC has morphed into CO2 -- to the point where millionaire hockey players are shilling for corporations selling imaginary carbon dioxide feelgood fairy dust.

Here's an old article I found exposing the original CFC hoax which can be applied verbatim to the CO2 hoax.

HoleInOzoneLie
Telling Little Green Lies?

France's most famous volcano expert has found a new hobby-horse -- the ecological lies he believes Green politicians have invented to scare the electorate into voting for them... The disintegration of the ozone layer by the infamous CFC gases "is a complete lie"... The ozone hole is a natural hole which appears above the Antarctic at the beginning of October and has disappeared by the end of December... Green parties are running a campaign of deliberate, untruthful scaremongering and the imaginary problems they espouse have led to millions of pounds being directed towards "environmental windmills" rather than the real threats of pollution... A spokesman for the French ecology party admits: "We are obliged to talk of an ozone hole in the media, because then people get a very visual impression, but of course, it is much more diffuse than that"...

The hole above the Antarctic was not the recent phenomenon ecologists claimed it to be. It was actually discovered as far back as 1957 but it was only in the mid-eighties that satellite photos began to highlight it in a rather spectacular way. These dramatic images have been used to hoodwink the public. The hole is due to the low levels of ultraviolet rays (which are necessary to produce ozone) over the Antarctic at the end of the year, and that the large and swift movements of air masses around the continent also play their part... It is alleged that it is the chlorine in the CFCs which breaks down the ozone molecules. However, only 7,500 tons of chlorine are released from the breakdown of CFCs every year, against 600 million tons from the evaporation of seawater and 36 million from volcanoes... The effect of chlorine is to break down the ozone into oxygen plus by-products, and it simply requires the presence of ultraviolet rays to transform the oxygen back into ozone...

As mentioned previously, the government and corporations are diabolically in cahoots pushing the global warming hoax and raking in billions taxing us for the carbon dioxide we exhale when we breathe and what fossil fuel industries emit when creating energy. It's part of the United Nations -- Big Brother -- agenda for the 21st century. See WEATHER-FOOD-WATER-AIR CONTROL

As much as I pride myself in staying up to date on the CO2 racket, I haven't, until now, researched the machinations of carbon "credits" or "offsets" or "capture and storage" technology the powers-that-be are using to "monetize" carbon. There's no excuse for slacking off because, as USA's founding father admonished, "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty". See DECLARING INDEPENDENCE ON 4TH OF JULY

Not that historical old dead white men hold any respect or reverence these days -- including our own Sir John A Macdonald whose been denigrated, decapitated and knocked off his pedestal all over the country he built.

I suspect that if I didn't know the nitty-gritty details of the government-corporate "de-carbonization" industry then most readers probably don't either. For that reason, I've scanned pages and excerpted passages and summaries from articles I found helpful for basic understanding.

OffsetCreditSystem
Canada's Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit System
(one offset credit is equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide reduced or removed)

Canada's GHG Offset Credit System encourages municipalities, Indigenous communities, foresters, farmers and other project developers to undertake innovative projects that reduce GHGs compared to business-as-usual practices. Proponents of offset projects can generate federal offset credits if they register and implement projects meeting requirements in the Canadian Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit System Regulations and an applicable federal offset protocol. Offset credits are tradeable units representing verified GHG reductions achieved by a project either by reducing GHG emissions or increasing GHG removals from the atmosphere. Each offset credit is equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide reduced or removed from the atmosphere. Federal offset credits can be sold and used for compliance by facilities covered under the federal Output-Based Pricing System and the Clean Electricity Regulations, or sold and used by others who are looking to meet voluntary climate targets or commitments. Canada's Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Offset Credit System is accepting project registration applications under the Landfill Methane Recovery and Destruction, Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Refrigeration Systems and Improved Forest Management on Private Land federal offset protocols.

HowCaptureWorks
HOW CARBON CAPTURE WORKS

Imagine a scenario where an evil super-genius finds a way to suck all the oxygen out of the air, then buries it in the ground. Sounds like the stuff of comic books? Well, yes, if we're talking about oxygen. But scientists are working on a way to do just that with carbon dioxide. Why capture carbon dioxide from the air? To combat global warming and climate change...

TrappingCO2 TransportingCO2

DiagramCapStore CoalPowerPlant

...Carbon capture is the process of trapping, storing and isolating excess carbon dioxide from power plants to create greener energy. Researchers believe that carbon capture is one of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse emissions. A fossil fuel power plant generates power by burning fossil fuel (coal, oil or natural gas), which generates heat that turns into steam. That steam turns a turbine connected to an electricity generator. Another word for the burning process is combustion... Carbon capture involves trapping the carbon dioxide at its emission source, transporting it to a storage location (usually deep underground) and isolating it. This means we could potentially block excess CO2 from entering the atmosphere...

Some critics worry about the economics of CCS. Electric cars and solar panels are commodities that can be marketed and sold to individuals and private organizations. But in contrast, finding ways to monetize captured CO2 has proven difficult. Another drawback? Current CCS technologies actually require a lot of energy to implement and run. Besides, they depend on water -- and lots of it -- for cooling and processing makes it quite expensive. purposes. Given this need for H2O, there've been debates over how CCS might (or might not) contribute to water scarcity... Carbon storage technology requires a lot of energy to run, which makes it very expensive. There are also concerns about storage safety and the effects of leaks and contamination. However, one of the biggest limitations is that it only captures emissions from industrial and fossil fuel plants, which only account for 25 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions...

CO2captureDiagram

I don't know if it's just me, but the whole "CO2 is a pollutant that needs to be removed from the atmosphere or planet Earth is doomed" is so farcical it's like living in a reality-TV cartoon show. Or like something Jonathan Swift, the greatest satirist in the English language -- who Orwell cited as his mentor -- wrote three hundred years ago in GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.

GulliverTiedDown
GULLIVER ON GM AGRICULTURE

...He desired me [Gulliver] to observe a ruined Building upon the Side of a Mountain about three Miles distant, of which he gave me this Account. That he had a very convenient Mill within Half a Mile of his House, turned by a Current from a large River, and sufficient for his own Family as well as a great Number of his Tenants. That, about seven Years ago, a Club of those Projectors came to him with Proposals to destroy this Mill, and build another on the Side of that Mountain, on the long Ridge whereof a long Canal must be cut for a Repository of Water, to be conveyed up by Pipes and Engines to supply the Mill: Because the Wind and Air upon a Height agitated the Water, and thereby made it fitter for Motion: And because the Water descending down a Declivity would turn the Mill with half the Current of a River whose Course is more upon a Level. He said, that being then not very well with the Court, and pressed by many of his Friends, he complyed with the Proposal; and after employing an Hundred Men for two Years, the Work miscarryed, the Projectors went off, laying the Blame entirely upon him; railing at him ever since, and putting others upon the same Experiment, with equal Assurance of Success, as well as equal Disappointment...

I feel solace in searching for and finding the truth about the causes of what's happening in our world and spreading the word so others can find solace too. I believe in karma and that the Oilers wearing that karbon-x logo on their shirts is what lost them the biggest game of their lives.

All the best,
Jackie Jura, June 2025

PS - I suspect that Canada's Prime Minister, who visited the Oilers locker-room while campaigning, was the master-mind behind affixing the KARBON-X logo on their shirts. It's definitely a conflict-of-interest.

...Prime Minister Mark Carney will have to recuse himself from any discussions directly involving Brookfield Asset Management, payment processing giant Stripe and dozens of companies owned or controlled by them as part of an extensive conflict-of-interest screen... The screen means that Carney cannot be involved in "any official matters or decision-making processes" that would further either his or the interests of the 103 companies, many of which operate in the renewable energy and real estate sectors... The ethics screen risks posing significant implementation challenges, if only because of the sheer scope of the prime minister's responsibilities combined with the large number of companies to be screened. Adding to the complexity is that Carney has repeatedly promised to transform Canada into a conventional and clean energy "superpower". This is the first time the ethics commissioner will have to police such a broad ethics screen for the highest-ranking elected official whose hand touches nearly all facets of government. That means there will likely need to be a fair amount of self-policing from Carney regarding any potential conflicts in files brought to him... Carney's potential conflicts were a key critique from the opponents after he was elected Liberal leader in early March... The Prime Minister is eligible to take part in the "notional long-term inventive plan" for the Brookfield Global Transition Fund, a US$15-billion pool of capital that Mr Carney spearheaded that makes large investments in technologiles such as carbon capture and storage, solar power and batteries, and nuclear services. ...The remainder of the funds are going toward a project looking to improve analysis technologies and another to test small-scale carbon capture from diesel engines. The announcement comes as uncertainty continues to cloud a $16.5-billion carbon capture project proposed by the Pathways Alliance, a consortium that includes six major oilsands producers. The companies have not made a final investment decision on the project, which would be one of the largest in the world if built, and federal and provincial support remains a question mark. Pathways would capture carbon dioxide emissions from more than 20 oilsands facilities in northern Alberta and transport them 400 kilometres away by pipeline to a terminal in the Cold Lake area in eastern Alberta, where they would be stored in an underground hub to prevent them from entering the atmosphere. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has pitched a "grand bargain" where that emissions-cutting project would go ahead in tandem with a new crude oil pipeline to the West Coast [red China], which no company has thus far proposed to build. Ottawa is weighing which projects deemed in the national interest will be subject to a sped-up regulatory review under newly passed federal legislation.

PipelinesCarbCapt Carney ties carbon capture to new [oil] pipelines [to red China], June 21, 2025
A massive investment in carbon capture technology in Alberta's oil sands, to which Prime Minister Mark Carney has tied his support for new fossil-fuel export [to red China] infrastructure, still faces an uphill battle. The proposed series of emissions-reducing commitments by the Pathways Alliance -- a group that represents the 6 companies that dominate oil-sands production -- has recently gained new life from Carney's focus on fast-tracking nation-building projects, while trying to balance resource-sector growth with sustainability goals... Potential solutions being proposed by carbon-capture advocates, many of them relying on new forms of co-operation between Ottawa and an Alberta government that has run hot and cold on oil-sands emissions reduction, will test both how badly Carney wants what he has controversially called "decarbonized oil", and how adept he is at forging compromise... At the heart of it lies a planned 400-kilometre-long pipeline that would transport carbon captured at oil-sands facilities to an underground hub near Cold Lake, Alberta. The alliance says that would reduce emissions from oil-sands production by 22 megatonnes a year. Roughly a dozen (12) oil-sands facilities spread across the Lower Athabasca Region would participate. Each would capture CO2 onsite, and ship it via pipeline to the main transportation line...

DecarbonizedOil Earth to Carney: 'Decarbonized Oil' is as real as Vitamin Cigarettes, June 9, 2025
Did Carney embarass himself by touting "decarbonized oil" last week? One federal advisor thinks so. Canada's new PM parroted nonsenese after a meeting with premiers last week. "Decarbonized oil" is now apparently a thing. Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke glowingly about this mythical substance in the context of new bitumen pipelines after his meeting last week in Saskatoon with Canada's premiers. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith chimed in her support for carbon-free unicorn oil as part of a new "grand bargain" where Ottawa would facilitate another bitumen pipeline to tidewater [to red China] in exchange for the 6 highly profitable companies within the Pathways Alliance finally moving forward with their carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. To be clear, decarbonized oil is as absurd as talking about vitamin cigarettes or weight-loss ice cream. Bitumen and crude oil are sold to make transportation fuels that are burned in engines... These downstream emissions represent 80 percent of the carbon burden and are utterly unavoidable unless we somehow affix bags onto all the world's tailpipes.

Pretending that we can perfectly prevent the remaining 20 percent of emissions has apparently become official public policy, and the public will likely pay the lion's share for this fool's errand. Besides demanding that the taxpayer provide two thirds [2/3] of the upfront cost of the $16.5 billion construction costs, Pathways recently called for an end to federal industrial pricing and prevailed in Alberta to freeze their carbon credits price at $95 per tonne. As the old cowboy saying goes, Pathways is trying to ride two horses with one ass. Freezing the price of Alberta carbon credits will save them a few pennies per barrel in production costs but vastly undermine the economics of their carbon capture project. This means the Canadian taxpayer will likely end up holding the bag for billions in operational shortfalls for decades to come... Our significant trading partners are meanwhile kicking Canada's ass on decarbonization. Europe is on track to reduce their emissions by 54 percent by 2030 and 90 percent by 2040. Canada may instead adopt the origami logic of "decarbonized oil", where Ottawa provides another pipeline [to red China] to facilitate increased bitumen production to pay for imperfect reductions on the 20 percent of non-downstream emissions. Problem solved... Even if the Pathways Alliance carbon capture hub finally got built, CCS technology is far from perfect with well-known safety concerns, declining economics and poor performance. Not to worry. Alberta premiere Smith further opined about direct-air capture, modular nuclear reactors and other phantasmal decarbonization solutions...

NetZeroCarney New climate plan simply hides the costs to Canadians, Fraser Institute, February 2025
Mark Carney, who wants to be your next prime minister, recently released his plan for Canada's climate policies through 2035. It's a sprawling plan (climate plans always are), encompassing industrial and manufacturing emissions, vehicle emissions, building emissions, appliance emissions, cross-border emissions, more "green" energy, more "heat pumps" replacing HVAC, more electric vehicle (EV) subsidies, more subsidies to consumers, more subsidies to companies, and more charging stations for the EV revolution that does not seem to be happening. And while the plan seeks to eliminate the "consumer carbon tax" on "fuels, such as gasoline, natural gas, diesel, home heating oil, etc", it's basically Trudeau's climate plans on steroids. Consider this. Instead of paying the "consumer carbon tax" directly, under the Carney plan Canadians will pay more -- but less visibly. The plan would "tighten" (ie raise) the carbon tax on "large industrial emitters" (you know, the people who make the stuff you buy) who will undoubtedly pass some or all of that cost to consumers. Second, the plan wants to force those same large emitters to somehow fund subsidy programs for consumer purchases to offset the losses to Canadians currently profiting from consumer carbon tax rebates. No doubt the costs of those subsidy programs will also be folded into the costs of the products that flow from Canada's "large industrial emitters", but the cause of rising prices will be less visible to the general public. And the plan wants more consumer home energy audits and retrofit programs, some of the most notoriously wasteful climate policies ever developed...

CarbonCaptureCircle Even Carney can't explain his discredited 'carbon offset': It's a boondoggle in waiting, NP, February 21, 2025
Carbon offsets are unreliable, fraud-ridden financial tokens that often fail to make any environmental impact at all. And if Mark Carney gets his way, they're going to be Canada's next big industry. In his carbon reduction pitch to voters, Carney pledged himself to "developing and integrating a new consumer carbon credit market" that works with the existing industrial carbon tax, and promised it would bring about price certainty, market efficiency and fiscal neutrality. Though the details are still scant, it's a plan to expand the current industrial carbon cap-and-trade system that Trudeau Liberals instituted in 2019. Under this system, industrial facilities must bring their emissions under the cap by reducing the amount they 'pollute' and/or buying carbon credits produced by private companies to subtract from their emissions output on paper. Where do carbon credits come from? In the mandatory federal cap-and-trade system, they're handed out by the government to reward under-cap industrial emitters, as well as carbon offset firms that carry out carbon-sequestering activity (such as not cutting down a forest, or switching to green tech). Companies that emit over the cap can lower their net emissions by buying carbon credits from others on the market. On the wilderness of the open market, credits are voluntarily bought and sold like indulgences for green credibility by large brokers. They're vetted by carbon auditors, who give them legitimacy. The past several years have seen the demand for carbon-offsets boom, and Carney's no doubt aware of that. USA investment bank Morgan Stanley foresees almost unbelievable growth in offsets ahead: it was a $2-billion business in 2022, but it's expected that will grow to $100 billion in 2030. If Canada can get in early, the thinking likely is, we stand to profit. What Carney doesn't take into account is that, just as corporate zeal for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies is dying, so too might corporate interest in feeble climate reward tokens...
