To Orwell Today,

Dear Jackie,

I am the author of Mallcity 14, a wry and humorous view of ‘Big Brother’ and contemporary consumer society, which reviewers have favourably compared to Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and Brave New World (while noting that Mallcity 14 is a timely addition to the genre).

I visited your website, and, particularly, the section 'Beyond Orwell' and thought that you might be interested to know of a dystopia that is "refreshingly different" and closely aligned with current events.

Greetings Shaun,

Thank you for sending the reviews and excerpts of your book "Mallcity 14". It looks very interesting.

I assume "Mallcity" comes from the words "mall" and "city" which is about all our cities are these days, but I haven't yet determined where "14" fits into the title. Perhaps when I've read more of the excerpts I'll find the answer.

All the best,
Jackie Jura

To Orwell Today,

Thanks Jackie.

PS - the '14' does have some significance, and your view of 'mall' and city' is also pretty close to the mark!
