To Orwell Today,

Hi Jackie,

I find your insights and opinions riveting. You have a fantastic website.

I was just reading through the discussion of movie adaptations. Apparently 1984 is once again being made into a movie. As I feel, movie adaptations of books sink the beauty and deeper meanings leaving only devoid air bubbles at the surface for viewing. Needless to say, I'm pretty apathetic about the upcoming production. (Recent case in point....Love in the time of Cholera - Gabriel Garcia Marquel). However, I just wanted give you the update for your website if you are interested: 1984 (2009)

Greetings Erik,

Thank you for your kind words about "Orwell Today" and glad to have you as a reader.

Thanks too for the heads up about the upcoming new movie adaptation of "1984" (no doubt a Ministry of Truth production serving up more prolefeed). I'll steel myself for the experience - sort of like Winston bracing himself before he tosses back the Victory Gin:

"....Winston paused for an instant to collect his nerve,
and gulped the oily-tasting stuff down.
Instantly his face turned scarlet and the water ran out of his eyes.
The stuff was like nitric acid, and moreover,
in swallowing it one had the sensation of being hit on the back of the head
with a rubber club."

All the best,
Jackie Jura
