Hello

I was just wondering in regards to the other two super states. In 1984 we see life as it is in Oceania. Would it be similar in Eurasia and Eastasia?

Greetings David,

Yes, once the powers-that-be (the Brotherhood) get One World Government (Big Brother) set up they'll treat the inhabitants of the three Super-States (America, Russia, China) the same. Orwell says so in 1984, which can be found in theme 7.Systems of Thought:

"The conditions of life in all three superstates are very much the same. In Oceania the prevailing philosophy is called Ingsoc, in Eurasia it is called Neo-Bolshevism, and in Eastasia it is called by a Chinese name usually translated as Death-Worship, but perhaps better rendered as Obliteration of the Self...The three philosophies are barely distinguishable, and the social systems which they support are not distinguishable at all. Everywhere there is the same pyramidal structure, the same worship of a semi-divine leader, the same economy existing by and for continuous warfare."

The way things are going these days with the Communist Chinese and the Soviet Russians buying all our resources and setting up shop here in Canada and elsewhere in the Western World it is probably not going to be too long before we start feeling the effects of the "boot stamping on our face".
