re: ORWELL'S TB DOC O'SHAUGHNESSY & ORWELL PRESTON HALL ANIMAL FARM

Hi Jackie,

I have been reading your web page today with interest as I am currently undertaking research on Preston Hall and the Royal British Legion Village for a new website we are creating. It was fascinating reading about George Orwell’s stay at Preston Hall and the big debate about whether or not it was the inspirational setting for Animal Farm.

Your exchanges with a Tim Rothwell were of particular interest to me, as I am trying to gather as much information as possible about Preston Hall and the Village during the 1900s and he mentioned that as a young child he lived here.

Best wishes,
Jane Waring

Greetings Jane,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the articles about Orwell's connections to the Preston Hall tuberculosis sanitarium. No doubt his stay there contributed some inspiration for ANIMAL FARM -- as his books are full of symbolism from his life.

All the best,,
