LOAD 'EM UP, MOVE 'EM OUT

When I was growing up in the fifties and sixties one of my favourite shows was RAWHIDE and I absolutely LOVED the opening song. We used to turn up the TV really loud and everyone from all over the house would come running to get their favourite chair. The song keeps playing in my ears today [Aug 2002] as I follow the story of the starving cattle in western Canada. I want to shout it from the top of my lungs at politicians and tell them to use taxpayers' money to buy hay from the HAVE farmers to give to the HAVE NOTS so the starving cattle can be fed.

It's time for citizens to order the government to buy up the eastern farmers' hay, load it onto trains and get it moving to the west "24-7" as they say in current lingo. This should have been done weeks ago but MUST be done now. There's enough hay in the east to feed every animal in the west and there are hundreds of empty train cars parked and doing nothing.

I wish every voice in Canada would join in ordering the government to attend to their duty in responding to this emergency. We're a pitiful nation if we allow starvation in a land of plenty. Join in singing the RAWHIDE refrain, substituting the word TRAINS for D0GGIES and CHRETIEN [Canada's Prime Minister - pronunced cretchYEN] for RAWHIDE. ~ Jackie Jura

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Get them trains a rollin'
Get them trains a rollin'
cretchYEN!

Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Get them trains a rolling'

Move em' on, Head em' up,
Head em' up, Move em' on
Move em' on, Head em' up,
cretchYEN!

Cut em' out, Ride em' in,
Ride em' in, Cut em' out,
Cut em' out, Ride em' in
cretchYEN!

Get movin', movin', movin'
Get them trains a movin'
Get them trains a movin'
