To Orwell Today,
re: ORWELL MOTIHARI MUSEUM PROGRESS

Hullo Jackie,

June 25th is around the corner, have you made any plans for Orwell's birthday? We could use it as a fund raiser in India AND Abroad for THE RESTORATION OF THE HOUSE.

An invitation for you and your family to visit Lucknow stands till it is availed.

Regards,
Nasir Abid

Greetings Nasir,

I got caught off guard this year with June approaching so fast and so far I've done nothing toward Orwell's birthday. I'm thinking of getting some new T-shirts made, which could also honour the publication date of "1984", ie June 8th, when Orwell Slayed the Dragon:

ST GEORGE ORWELL DAY

Regarding Fund Raising for the Restoration of the House I think that's a great idea.

SHRINE TO ORWELL

I'll do whatever I can to encourage donations, if you'll take on the task of being in charge.

All the best,
Jackie Jura

PS - Thank you SO MUCH for your invitation to visit Lucknow and hopefully some day we'll take you up on that offer. I have a beautiful book that I got from my Grandmother, which was given to her by her mother in 1919 entitled "The High Road of Empire" by A. H. Hallam Murray. The author was a water-colour artist (as was my grandmother) and it is full of beautiful sketches of the author's visit to India. There are sketches and stories in the book about Poona and Bombay (where my great-grandparents lived) and also about Lucknow (where you live and where Orwell was offered the job as editor of the Pioneer).
